College & Return on Investment

Written on January 28th, 2013 by Jamesno shouts

Money magazine (www.cnnmoney.com) has an interesting article this month that prompts parents and students alike to think about college/degree choices based on ROI (return on investment).  They ask the question, will that pricey university help your kids get a better paying job vs. the same degree at a less expensive college?  How about the degree in general, should students look at the salary schedules and job prospects prior to enrolling in a degree program?

One website nerdwallet.com:  http://www.nerdwallet.com/nerdscholar/grad_surveys/top-salaries will let you look at a variety of metrics regarding starting salaries and degree programs from colleges.

This website: payscale.com will let you look at the actual ROI for the college/degree program:  http://www.payscale.com/college-education-value

It’s never to early to try and steer your kids toward a college/degree program that will actually allow them to get a return on their (your) investment.
